THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL...
![]() After more than 25 years of providing youth development in Coos County we hope that everyone is aware of the impact of our work – we provide a positive place for youth in our community. This work is made possible by the contributions we receive from concerned citizens, grants, special events and sponsorships. What you may not realize is that over 80% of all charitable contributions in the United States come from individuals, and we have not even scratched the surface of these resources.
Six Ways to Make a Planned Gift to Boys & Girls Clubs 1. A gift in your will or living trust. A simple charitable bequest
![]() can provide very meaningful support for our mission as well as reduce the amount of estate and inheritance taxes paid. Bequests may be specific assets or amounts, or they may be proportional or residual in nature (see sample bequest language in the samples section).
2. A gift of a new or existing life insurance policy. Many people have life insurance policies that are no longer needed for their original purposes. Such policies can be given to the Boys & Girls Club and an income tax deduction can be taken for the cash surrender value. Plus, the annual premiums on a new or existing policy given to the Boys & Girls Club irrevocably may also be tax-deductible.
3. A beneficiary designation on your life insurance policy. Without giving up ownership of your life
4. A gift of financial accounts. Most checking, savings and brokerage accounts can be bequeathed to the Boys & Girls Club through a simple “payable on death” designation with your financial institution. 5. A gift of retirement benefits. Naming the Boys & Girls Club as primary, partial or contingent beneficiary of your retirement plan is a simple, practical gift idea. Contact your plan custodian for the proper beneficiary change forms 22
6. A gift of savings bonds. Many people have fully appreciated savings bonds. These assets cannot be donated during your lifetime without first being converted to cash and, therefore, generating taxable income. By making a gift of savings bonds through your will, you can avoid this tax and support our mission. We hope everyone will seriously consider putting the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern in your will. If you do, we can promise you that we will not only reach, but exceed our goals over the next few years, and continue our very important mission of providing support to those children in our community who are in need of the vital human services supplied by the Boys & Girls Club.
